PROBLEMS DOWNLOADING THE PROGRAMME? We apologise. In part, the tardyness of our site is due to over 100 people HOTLINKING to our images.
So, a note to those of you who may be using one of our images as a Livejournal avatar, or directly linking to a Ladyfest poster (for example): YOU ARE STEALING! STOP RIGHT THERE!
There are TWO good reasons why it's a very bad thing to hotlink.
- 1 - A lot of the images on this site are images that people have created especially for us. It would be nice if you could get the artist's permission before using the image so that they know where in the world their art is being used! Just email us! We'll try and sort it out for you!
- 2 - We paid for the webspace that Ladyfest Brighton lives in. By directly linking to images that live on our server, you are stealing our bandwith. You may not realise that what you are doing is stealing, so read up on why it really is here.
We love that you love our images. But PLEASE, get in touch if you want to use them, and then save them to your own server space.

LFB couldn't be as glorious as we wanted it to be without the passion, time, support and energies of all the wonderful, wonderful people who have been involved so far. BUT, that doesn't mean that we
have now closed our door to help: If you think you have something to offer, please get in touch! You can do so via any of the COMMITTEE EMAILS or you could offer to sponsor us.
For more information regarding Sponsoring the festival, download our SPONSORSHIP PACK.
It's PDF format, and you're not committed to give money just by downloading it or anything like that. Have a read through, see if you or your company
is up for contributing to one of the most vibrant and creative independent festivals the South East has ever seen, then get in touch!

PRE-SALE ON-SALE SOON! That's right, with barely a month left to wait, tickets for LFB will go on sale in Edgeworld (01273 325 440), Rounder (01273 628 262) and Resident (01273 606 312).
Here's a taster of our live music programme...
ELECTRELANE: Everyone’s favourite band? Certainly ours! This year has seen them release their third and fantastic album Axes, they’ve once again proved that music could go beyond any defined genres, be truly emotional and feminine and tear the floor! Verity, Ros, Emma and Mia have been touring England, Europe and the States (twice) and we’ll catch up with them on October 22nd back from Japan and Australia, ready to rock!
SPIDER AND THE WEBS: Hard to talk about Olympia activist Tobi Vail without mentioning the riot grrlz and the band Bikini Kill but freshen up and be ready for something else as Spider and the Webs sees Ms Vail associate with Chris Sutton (Dub Narcotic Sound System) and James Maeda for some ecstatic psychedelic punk affair! Is there something in the air in Olympia or what?
PARTYLINE: Partying and politics, impossible??? It could take 5 minutes, or 5 seconds, for Partyline to convince the sceptics! From Washington DC, Alison (ex Bratmobile), Angela and Crystal thrash vigilantly against boredom, the Bush regime and body control! Girls with glasses, they'll squash you like a bug!
AFRIRAMPO: Meet Oni and Pika from Osaka, Japan. The duet drums, guitars, shouts and breathes freedom throughout. Afrirampo means naked in the Osaka language and the young ladies certainly bare their soul on stage with furious sonic experimentations.
ILL EASE: Elizabeth Sharp is Ill Ease. Originally a drummer, Sharp has followed her desire for independence and took on several different instruments to compose and record her songs single handedly. Her rules, her emotions and her sense of criticism make Ill Ease intensely personal but also reaching to the universal.
FAKE VALERIE ACTION: This is Jo and Elvis from the fantastic Valerie together with Ingvild from Scandinavian Riot grrl band Fake. Original Valerie lady Vix being on holiday, this is the line up that is going to spread mischief and make you question what it is all about to be in a band in our pretty crap postmodern days. Their stage presence is legendary and their gigs are rare, catch them while you can!
BLOOD RED SHOES: This is Laura-Mary from London band Lady Muck and Steven from Brighton's Cat On Form. Blood Red Shoes take on punk pop with an energy so fierce it could lead Red Bull to bankruptcy. A drumkit, a guitar and plenty of shouts!
THE POLLY SHAN KUAN BAND: This Brighton band is always a surprise, changing lineups, changing instruments (or what they chose to be instruments, you never know what they are going to use) and making uncompromising noise. Joyous, hysterical, broken, fucked up primitive, drunken speaker invasion. PSKB laugh in Deaths face and spit into the eye sockets of skulls.
Some pictures on Bill T Miller's site.

We will have both Ladyfest DJs (including the lovely Laura-Mary from Blood Red Shoes) and Dyke Bar DJs, DJ Rock It and DJX as well as some visual art (film and photography) courtesy of Polly Benians and Fran Young.

We now have a festival program which is going to be up as soon as we get those last couple of details sorted. We're very proud and excited about the program and we think you're going to love it too!

COMMITTEES
Ladyfest Brighton depends upon the passion, skills and involvement of as many people as possible - no matter what your previous experience.
There are a number of ways in which you can help make this festival a success. You can come to our fundraisers, offer your services to perform or hold workshops, donate money or resources, volunteer, and help spread the word.
Ladyfest Brighton is organised by COMMITTEES (such as music, finance, press, etc) who meet independently to get their stuff done, and general meetings where committees report back and important decisions are made.
You can view the minutes of the general meetings below, so you can see how this is being organised, and also to notice that we need lots more help in putting on such a big event! We have facillators for each committee who can answer your questions and tell you more about what's going on.

LADYFEST FILM ARCHIVE
Are you a budding film-maker?
Women make up only 7% of professional film directors world-wide and often find it hard to get their work financed - especially if it falls outside the remit of films women are expected to make.
We at Ladyfest Brighton love films and we love showcasing people's work at any oportunity.
Keep your eyes open for our outdoor cinema nights - we might project some stuff on the side of the Pavillion in town and other such guerilla, impromptu stunts.
Whether you're an award winning director or a kid who's just put together a short film for her media class, we want you to send us your stuff.
This is the PDF submission form >CLICK HERE! Fill it out and post it back with a sample of your work.
Not only will we screen it at fundraisers and the festival itself, we can also include it our non-profit film archive. This acts as a central resource for other women or activist groups to screen your work and take it to brand new audiences around the country.
See the FINGERBANG site for more infomation.
