9. OTHER BUSINESS

EMAIL FROM: Ravi- raviop@yahoo.co.uk
Music - I'd like to organise (with others) a ladies soul show at The Hanbury Ballroom or Sussex Arts Club (probably Sussex) with Ms Fountaine (female hip hop/soul singer) and Alison (acoustic soul/funk) as part of the main ladyfest event. Both artists will need to recieve a small fee. Alison is a local act so accomodation isn't needed. Ms Fountaine might need accomodation. Ms Fountaine seems to spend her career doing charity work (black /lesbian/ gay/womens festvials) and I think she's run out of charity - can't blame her. The show has the potential to draw £600 (£6 x 120 capacity), most charity events cover nominal fees. Let me know if this will be a problem.

Films - Maybe do 'Sister George'. It's a great film about lesbians, women in entertainment and a few crazy people thrown in!

Workshop - My mate Laura, and friend Paula would be happy to run a 'Women in Music' workshop, covering womens role in the industry and also giving advice to musicians about the industry and stratigies best needed. Laura is Director of Gash Promotions Ltd, artist management and music promotions. 4 years in the industry. Paula Greenwood - Co-owner of Sound Records and Sound Publishing. Responsible for The Stone Roses getting signed! In the industry too long.

Also Laura would like to organise a bi-sexual discussion group. Fact or Fiction? As no-one seems to take bi's seriously. Lots of press recently in G Scene.

LGBT - I got a few mates who are trans. The Hallaquin pub are an approachable bunch, maybe I could speak to them about a fund raiser?? Also the LGBT youth advice centre might like to do a workshop for younger members of the community, or at least run their own as usual with our name to it - this way they might get a new audience/members of the community.

Brighton Pride are funding LGBT community/ groups (who involve the community). In the region of £500 - £1000. I have made enquiries and it all sounds good. Hvae an application form. We must specify how we meet the needs of the community. It desn't have to be in until 29th March 2005, so hopefully i would have made contact and started talks with LGBT youth group/transgender group. Can meet you to give you forms if you want to fill it out.

Also PRIDE are running Event Mangement Course. It's £25!!! I paid 10 times that for a course in London. I might do the course again as it was a long time ago. Let me know if you're interested.

Sussex Enterprise are running a Book Keeping course and range of business course - which might be handy to anyone doing the books/admin.

We're putting on a show in Sep with Joan Armatrading, Carleen Anderson and maybe Beth Orton, shall I try and secure interviews for website?

Regards

Ravi
